 Interview with Mrs. Oliver           Getting to interview Mrs. Oliver was a lot of fun! I really learned a lot on and off  camera ( during the interview and after). In her interview Mrs. Oliver begins with talking about the students that she has in her class. She states that she has LEP students. According to Wright LEP students are students "whose difficulties in speaking, reading, writing and understanding  the  English may be sufficient to deny the individual … the ability to meet the states ( pl ) ...on state assessments...ability to successfully achieve in classroom where language of  instruction  is English...opportunity to participate in society"(Wright Ch.1 Pg.3). Interview video:  (click Here) Interview Reflection:       I feel that the school that Martha  attended did a great job of making sure that the students learned  English  but also kept their primary language. As Martha was talking about her experience in school she never mentioned that they were not allowed to speak  their first language.  I think this is great because it did not make them feel as if they were not allowed to  speak  their primary language and felt  comfortable  using it when they wanted to and when they did not understand something.  Also,  in Wrights book he talks about how  schools  fail in this area and do not realize that  students  need to talk their primary language because of their community and home society (Wright Ch.1 pg.22).           Another  thing that Martha talked about was   her parents speaking  Spani...

Hello, My name is Isabel Uribe. I currently attend the University of Houston. I am an Education major EC-6 grade. I hope to graduate may of 2018. I believe that working with children is the best job a person can have. Teaching is a never ending job and us as teachers will learn something new everyday!
